Samsung LED TV Scart Adapter
Note: Since the time of writing this article, this site stock individual Samsung scart adapters (thanks, Pat!)
Unrelated to the world of web design and development (but still related to general geekery), the Samsung LED TVs are ultra slim, and this means that for some connections – such as the SCART socket – a proprietary Samsung scart adapter cable is used:

Samsung LED TV Scart Adapter Cable
Having purchased my Samsung UE40B6000WW LED TV second hand, it didn’t come with the above cables. Not a problem, as I’d anticipated that I would need to purchase replacements.
On speaking to Samsung UK, they suggested 4mysamsung, who are the main supplier of Samsung spare parts, such as remote controls, cables etc. On speaking to 4mysamsung, they stated they had not heard of the above cables, and did not have any.
Samsung UK then suggested their official warranty repair company, based in Birmingham. They reassured me that they stock all spare Samsung parts. On speaking to them, they stated they do not supply spare parts.
Finally, Samsung UK suggested several other generic spare parts suppliers. And again, none of them had the part available.
So what would happen if the cable were to break under warranty? Surely Samsung must have a way of providing replacements for faulty accessories that come with their TVs? On asking Samsung this, they confirmed that yes, they would be able to send out replacement parts.
Despite the TV being second hand, it was still within its 1 year manufacturer warranty. I’d registered my TV on their “My Samsung” service, and then opened a support request to state that my scart cable was faulty.
One week later and a replacement cable turns up from Samsung in the Netherlands, free of charge:

Replacement Samsung Scart Cable
Oh, and they decided to include the other breakout cables, remote control, pebble remote, cleaning cloth, cable management, backplate and god knows what else:

Samsung LED TV - All Accessories
There are two issues here:
- Despite my honesty about not having the cable, Samsung and their authorised repairers and suppliers did not have a replacement cable they could sell. This is probably because:
- I only needed a scart adapter cable. Instead, I received a complete accessory bundle, probably worth £50+ at retail.
Because of this:
- It appears individual parts cannot be replaced, whether it be under warranty or purchased
- Duplicate, unecessary accessories were sent, which involves a waste of money, transportation etc.
So if you’re looking for a replacement cable, it seems you can only get one if your TV’s under warranty still.
Similarly, I just bought two brand new Samsung UE32D5000 LED TVs, which arrived today. Upon opening and setting up, I fond that both had been packed with an incorrect EXT RGB to Scart adapter (I received part number BN39-01154A in both boxes).
After a fairly lengthy call with Samsung’s customer services where I had to convince the nice lady that I wasn’t in fact some kind of Luddite moron, it transpires that these TVs should have been packed with Scart adapter BN39-01154F, which apparently are now on their way to me.
So don’t panic – okay Samsung have clearly got a fairly major packing cock-up in their Slovakian factory, but it’s not you being stupid if you can’t make your Scart adapter fit.
Hi David,
That’s useful to know, it seems that since the time of my original article Samsung have obviously released a lot of new LED TV’s with slightly different SCART adapters.
I too have just bought a UE32D5520 and have found it’s got the wrong SCART adapter in – BN39-01154A.
I thought I was being dim when I couldn’t plug it in.
Will give customer services a call tomorrow and see what they say.
Hi . Just bought a new 46 inch samsung TV and found it initially diffucult to insert the scart adaptor . What you need to is to put the TV face down on mattres or blanket and then adjuste it gently it will slid very easily no force at all needed . Make sure you press both sides and the arrow is facing up .good luck and enjoy watching 3D
Update.
I called Samsung after trying for ages to fit the part. Strangely, whilst speaking to the man on the phone, I had one last go and fitting it – It fitted.
It’s a bit hard though. You have to have the arrow facing towards you, push the buttons and have the cable directly beheath the socket.
The man on the phone did confirm that UE32D5520 is usually supplied with BN39-01154F, but that BN39-01154A is compatible with it.
I haven’t tried it out yet to see if it works, but fitting it is a major triumph!
Got 2 replacement parts from Samsung today and guess what? They supplied BN39-01154A again!
So fortunately before going atomic at Samsung, I read the post above… decided to have one last go at fitting the Scart adapter and guess what? I got it in.
It’s a complete ****** nightmare to get the adapter into the Ext RGB socket, but it will fit. As Adam R says, it’s white arrow facing you, side buttons pushed in and the cable absolutely precisely lined up. The only way I could do it was to have the TV laid face down on a blanket-covered table… but it does fit.
Happy days.
I have the UE32D6530WK and cant connect the BN39-01154A scart adapter cable (with arrow pointed out at me, sides compressed).
it doesnt look like it could go in anyway? anyone know if this is the wrong cable?
I have just bought a 24″ Samsung TV and could not see how the BN39-01154A scart adapter could possibly fit into the socket…it just looks like it’s blocked, and the gaps look way too small. HOWEVER, thanks to everyone above I persevered, and suddenly it just slid in. So keep trying, but don’t force it…once it’s aligned exactly right it slots in easily.
Hi, I am having numerous problems with an Samsung LED TV I bought for Christmas regarding the RGB to scart. Here goes…. I have connected the adapter RGB to scart to my Sky box and all works fine. I also have a magic eye which we use in our bedroom. Now this stops working. I disconnect the new TV and connect the same scart to my old TV and bingo! it works. It seems that the adapter is overriding the TV and not allowing it to work with the magic eye. I have spoke to Samsung about this as every other method works. It’s all to do with that silly adapter as connecting the sky box scart to scart has not problems as the adapter is breaking the connection. Any advice peeps? Many thanks
Simar problems to Kev, in that before we test the magic eye, we need an extended lead because all leads are to be fed through a hole in the wall behind which it is mounted. The hole is not big enough for a scart connector to pass through and I don’t want to make the hole look like the Dartford Tunnel. What tv model is yours, Kev?
today bought samsung ue40d8000 in box both scart cables bn39-01154A unixtar/1149 from bottom my tv scart input looks almost same like mine cables wtf ??? how they must fit in each to other?
a bit hard indeed but ok goes right in
thanks
The adapters are available through Amazon if anyone needs one and the TV is out of warranty.
What I would like, though, is an extension lead so that I can take the smaller cable down through an existing wall channel and use the converter at ground level. This would also solve another problem that the weight of the converter tends to pull the plug out of the socket over time. Does anyone know where I could get an extension cable?
Purchased a Samsung UE32D5000 LED TV back in January … now having problems connecting to my dvd player. The Scart Adapter fits fine into the TV and the Scart lead but the dvd player is not being picked up from the EXT RGB source.
Any ideas?
Hi all
This is a helpful thread. I have managed to get the scart adapter in, but it always has a couple of mm left to go, which in my mind means it won’t work. I then can’t work out what setting the TV needs to be on to actually pick up the freeview recorder (which in this case is what’s attached to the scart). Any tips?
Thanks!
